The EVOA1550A comes equipped with an in-line fiber optic power monitor with a calibrated reading display, ensuring that the user can accurately monitor the input power of up to 200 mW. The control knob allows for analog adjustment of the attenuation, while the digital meter reports the actual output power, providing complete control over the attenuation of the light.
One of the key features of the EVOA1550A is its Power Lock function. With this feature, users can lock the output power level by using the VOA as a power stabilizer. Attenuation is achieved by an internal MEMS mirror that adjusts the coupling ratio between the input and output fibers. The output power is displayed on the front of the attenuator in mW.
The displayed output power on the EVOA1550A is calculated using a low-percentage internal optical tap and wavelength-specific calibration settings. The wavelength selector knob is used to choose among one user-calibrated and two factory-calibrated settings. Users can also calibrate for any wavelength within the operating range of the EVOA1550A by using a single mode laser, an accurate power meter, and the trimpot on the side utility panel.
The EVOA1550A is battery-powered, featuring a Li-Ion rechargeable battery that can last for up to 300 hours on a single charge. Charging can be done through the utility side panel with either the included external power supply or a USB mini-B cable. The side panel also provides an external modulation input and a power monitoring output via SMA connectors.
