The F230FC-A by ThorLabs is a fiber collimation package that offers precision and performance with ease of integration into existing setups. This collimation package is pre-aligned to provide diffraction-limited performance, making it an ideal choice for fiber-coupled detection systems. The F230FC-A is compact and has no movable parts, making it easy to install and maintain. Housed in non-magnetic stainless steel, this collimation package simplifies the setup of fiber-coupled detection systems.

The F230FC-A's effective focal length (EFL) is wavelength dependent due to chromatic aberration, and its design wavelength indicates the ideal beam divergence. The F230FC-A comes with an anti-reflection (AR) coating on both sides that reduces surface reflections, ensuring maximum light transmission. It is important to note that the operating temperature for the lens is between -40°C to 93°C, and the collimation package is not vacuum compatible.

Designed for use with single mode fiber patch cables, the F230FC-A is best paired with an AR-coated cable for optimal performance. These cables come with an anti-reflective coating on one end, increasing transmission and improving return loss at the fiber-to-free-space interface. For mounting, a collimator mounting adapter can be used, including a kinematic collimator mounting adapter that provides pitch and yaw adjustment. The F230FC-A has external M11 x 0.5 threading and is compatible with narrow and wide key FC/PC connectors.
