The F260SMA-1550 has an effective focal length (EFL) that is wavelength dependent due to chromatic aberration. This package is aligned at a wavelength of 1550 nm, and the design wavelength indicates the wavelength of ideal beam divergence. When connected to the designated single mode fiber patch cable, this factory-aligned item helps provide accurate beam alignment at its designed wavelength. Moreover, this package has an AR coating on both sides that minimizes surface reflections. For some applications, the F260SMA-1550 can be utilized within the AR coating range at a differing wavelength.

The F260SMA-1550 has an operating temperature wavelength range of -40 °C to 93 °C, a numerical aperture of 0.16, and a focal length of 15.58 mm. This package is intended for use with single mode patch cables with an SMA905 connector but can also be used with compatible small-core, low-NA, multimode fiber optic patch cables. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use the F260SMA-1550 with an AR-coated multimode patch cable. One fiber end of the cable boasts an antireflective coating for increased transmission and improved fiber-to-free-space interface return loss. To mount this package, it is recommended to use a collimator mounting adapter, such as a kinematic collimator mounting adapter that provides pitch and yaw adjustment.
