The FC1064-50B-APC by ThorLabs is a top-of-the-line 2x2 fused fiber optic coupler that is perfect for optical coherence tomography (OCT) applications. With a center wavelength of 1064 nm and a 50:50 split ratio, this coupler offers high performance and versatility for a wide range of optical setups.

One of the standout features of the FC1064-50B-APC is its bidirectional design, which allows any port to be used as an input, providing flexibility in how the user configures a setup. The coupler utilizes a HI1060 FLEX fiber with a Ø3.4 µm core size and a 0.22 NA, resulting in reduced bending loss compared to standard HI1060 fibers, ensuring reliable and efficient performance.

Designed for a flat spectral response over a ±100 nm operating range, the FC1064-50B-APC delivers consistent and accurate results in optical measurements. The coupler also features a 2.0 mm narrow key FC/APC connector, ensuring a secure and reliable connection to optical system. With a power handling capability of up to 1 W (total power passing through the component) when connectors or bare fibers are used at the inputs and outputs, or up to 5 W when spliced into a setup, the FC1064-50B-APC can handle demanding optical setups with ease. The 0.8 m long fiber leads are jacketed in Hytrel® tubing with a size of Ø900 µm, providing durability and protection to the delicate fibers.

Attaching a white port to the input on the FC1064-50B-APC enables the to fine-tune the power ratio between the signal output (white port) and tap output(red port). This provides precise control of optical signals, as indicated by the coupling ratio specification. The aluminum housing of the coupler can be stacked with a compatible plastic clamp or mounted to a Ø1/2" post using compatible aluminum clamps, offering convenient and secure mounting options.
