The HWXYT-A by ThorLabs is a FiberBench tweaker model designed to provide precision and accuracy in beam steering applications. This innovative tool consists of a plane-parallel, AR-coated, precision-polished plate that is mounted on a ball and socket that is magnetic and allows for a rotation of 360°. With the HWXYT-A, users can quickly and easily adjust the beam displacement both vertically and horizontally, achieving sub-mm level precision. Positional correction of hundreds of microns in roughly 10 µm can occur when the beam that is parallel to the optic axis is displaced.
The HWXYT-A boasts a thickness of 2.5 mm and can be rotated and tilted in almost any orientation, providing users with complete control over their beam steering applications. When rotated, the beam can be displaced parallel to the optical axis by up to 500 µm. However, it's important to note that the AR coating on these optics will begin to deteriorate beyond 30° angles of incidence. In addition to its precision and versatility, the HWXYT-A also features an AR coating of 350 - 700 nm, as well as a UV fused silica (UVFS) substrate, making it an excellent choice for variable attenuation applications. Users can utilize this module as a variable attenuator with a range of 0 - 20 dB, with steps of roughly 0.5 dB.
