The PAT9000B by Thorlabs is a versatile and innovative measurement system that offers a complete solution for polarization analysis, characterization of optical signals, and components. It provides in-depth analysis of polarization dependent losses (PDL) and polarization mode dispersion (PMD) with its user-friendly interface and advanced capabilities. This system is based on a 586 Pentium unit and features an integrated TFT monitor, a GPIB/IEEE 488 interface, and connectors for keyboard, mouse, and external monitor. The 19" mainframe can accommodate up to three modules from the 9000 series, providing ample space for all your measurement needs. In addition, the PAT9000B can control wideband tunable semiconductor lasers from various manufacturers through its GPIB/IEEE 488 interface.
The PAT9000B is ideal for a wide range of applications, including polarization analysis of signals and components, long-term analysis of polarization effects, analysis of extinction ratio in polarization maintaining fibers or laser-to-fiber coupling, birefringence and absorption of optical components, and precise measurement of polarization dependent losses or gains. The system is also capable of measuring polarization mode dispersion (PMD) using different techniques, even on already installed fibers. The high resolution measurement capabilities make it ideal for narrowband optical components, and the built-in software and Ethernet interface make it easy to collect and analyze data.
The PAT9000B features a convenient front panel with jacks for a USB mouse and a PC keyboard, as well as a VGA LCD screen with TFT color. The rear panel includes a 100 MHz, 8-pin RJ45 Network Connector, 9-pin D-SUB jacks for both COM 1 and COM 2 interfaces, a 25-pin D-SUB jack for LPT 1 interface, and a 24 pin jack for a IEEE 488 interface. An external VGA monitor can be connected to the PAT9000B via a 15-pin high density SUB jack, making it easy to visualize your data.
All measurement data can be stored on the built-in hard disk in ASCII format for easy access and further processing. As a 586-based unit, the PAT9000B is compatible with any commercially available software running under MS-DOS or MS Windows, providing endless possibilities for data analysis and manipulation.
The PAT9000B by Thorlabs is a comprehensive and versatile solution for polarization analysis and characterization of optical signals and components. Its advanced capabilities, user-friendly interface, and numerous connectivity options make it the perfect choice for professionals in the field.
