The Thorlabs PRO8000 Chassis is a versatile, rack-mountable system designed for use in large test setups. With the ability to hold up to eight modules, the PRO8000 allows for customization to meet individual experimental needs. The easy-to-use display menu and mnemonic symbols make it user-friendly, and all settings are retained in memory and automatically recalled upon power-up. The PRO8000 can be operated independently of an external computer, and it can control a broad family of interchangeable modular devices such as laser diode current controllers, optical switches, and photocurrent measurement modules. Additionally, it is compatible with temperature and current controllers, and it features current and temperature controllers for laser diode operation, characterization, or burn-in applications, as well as remote control via IEEE 488.2 and RS232. The PRO8000 has a maximum power consumption of 500 VA, and empty slots can be covered using PRO8000-C front cover plates.
The PRO8000 chassis features an intuitive front panel for easy access to all inputs and outputs, as well as an alphanumeric vacuum fluorescent display that allows for interactive communication with the PRO8000. This display contains several menus that provide a clear and structured presentation of relevant values. The LOCAL button allows you to switch between remote and manual operation, with and LED that lights up when the PRO8000 is in local mode. Other front panel features include an escape button, an ON/OFF button, channel buttons and a dial knob. The three blue softkeys on the front panel have different functions depending on the menu as shown in bottom of the specific display in use. The PRO8000 also features a key-operated power switch (ON/STANDBY) on the front panel to prevent accidental or unauthorized use.
The rear panel of the PRO8000 features a variety of connectors and switches for maximum functionality. The IEEE488 interface connector and two-pin DIP switch are both located on the rear panel. Both pins of the DIP switch must be in the "right" position for normal operation. The tripper input and trigger output, 4mm banana jack GROUND connector, and the RS232 interface connector are also located on the rear panel. This panel also features a mains connector with a fuse holder, two fans and an air outlet for increased cooling capabilities, and a fuse list with a marker to indicate the line voltage setting. This allows for easy and convenient access to all the features and functions of the PRO8000.
