ThorLabs CCS175-M

The CCS175/M by ThorLabs is a top-of-the-line metric Czerny-Turner compact spectrometer designed for general laboratory use. With its impressive array of integrated routines, including averaging, smoothing, peak indexing, and the ability to save and recall data sets, this compact spectrometer is perfect for any laboratory setting.

Despite its small size, measuring at only 122 mm x 79 mm x 29.5 mm, the CCS175/M is packed with features found in larger, more expensive models. With the ability to be synchronized via a TTL trigger input and the ability to automatically compensate for noise created by dark current, this compact spectrometer provides sub-nanometer accuracy and a detection range of 500 nm - 1000 nm. While there may be a large difference in the relative response of the system from the UV to the visible that inhibits reliable power readings in the UV when performing broadband measurements, features in the UV may still be visible with the use of a bandpass or shortpass filter to prevent saturation at longer wavelengths.

The CCS175/M is also incredibly versatile in its connectivity options, being compatible with SMA905-connectorized fibers that can be attached using the input port. Additionally, a CCSBI cosine connector can be used to adapt the device for free-space applications, providing even more flexibility for the user. For ease and stability of mounting, each spectrometer is equipped with two bottom-located M6 taps separated by 1" (25.4 mm). Other operating elements of the CCS175/M include a USB port that allows the device to be connected to a USB 2.0 cable for use with a remote-controlled PC unit, as well as a status LED light that indicates when the device is ready for use.

The CCS175/M also boasts several unique features, including the Wavelength Range mode, which provides accurate intensity results within a user-defined wavelength range. Additionally, the Amplitude Correction function corrects a displayed spectrum with respect to the wavelength-dependent responsivity of the spectrometer. Amplification solely based on the wavelength-dependent responsivity can cause an increase in noise at wavelengths with lower responsivity. The CCS175/M can also be calibrated using a compatible patch cable, and it is necessary to recalibrate the system every year to ensure reliability. The calibration data of the wavelength of the device is saved in the internal non-volatile memory, which eliminates the need to recalibrate the data after every use.
