The DET410 by ThorLabs is a high-speed InGaAs photodetector that is ready to use for a variety of light measurement applications. The DET410 features a removable 1" optical coupler that is compatible with ND filters, spectral filters, and other Thorlabs 1" stackable lens mount accessories, making it easy to customize and adapt to your specific application. The ruggedized housing of the DET410 includes a reversed-biased PIN photodiode, bias battery, and ON/OFF switch, ensuring durability and reliability in demanding environments.
Designed for measuring both pulsed and CW light sources, the DET410 provides a direct photocurrent output from the photodiode anode, which is proportional to the incident light power and wavelength. For easier data viewing, it's recommended to turn the photocurrent into a voltage with a 50Ω coax cable and terminating resistor at the end of the cable. This will ensure maximum bandwidth with minimal ringing by balancing the impedance of the coax. Alternatively, the RLOAD can be increased up to 10KΩ to increase the amount of voltage for a given input light, depending on the desired application requirements.
The DET410 offers excellent compatibility with FC, SMA, and ST fiber adapters, as well as stackable lens tubes for mounting optics and cage assemblies, allowing for seamless integration into elaborate 3D optical assemblies. To ensure proper operation, it is important to prevent the fiber ferrule from crashing into the detector. This can be easily achieved by installing a SM1RR retaining ring inside the 1" threaded coupler before installing the fiber adapter, protecting both the diode and the fiber from potential damage. In terms of maintenance, the DET410 is designed for maximum accessibility, with the front surface of the diode extending outside of the housing, allowing for easy cleaning with a soft, damp cloth. The window of the detector should only be cleaned using optical grade wipes to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
