The ThorLabs PDA200 is a top-of-the-line, precise, and small benchtop photodiode amplifier that has been specifically designed to function seamlessly with various kinds of photodiodes. The PDA200 is optimized for simple operation of photodiodes, which is achieved through a transimpedance amplifier, a sensitive pico-Ampère meter, low noise amplification of the photodiode current, and a simple optical power meter after calibration.

With its user-friendly front panel, the PDA200 is simple to view and operate. The operating parameters are displayed on an illuminated 4½-digit LCD display, which can be used to display either the optical power, bias voltage, or PD-current. The displayed parameter is selected using the up/down toggle switches and indicated by LEDs. The unit of measurement for the current and power ranges is also displayed through LEDs, while the bias voltage is indicated in volts (V). To ensure accurate and precise measurements, the installed mains filter and transformer shielding of the PDA200 provide a low ripple at the analog control output.

The PDA200 comes with a 20-turn potentiometer that allows for the easy adjustment of the offset of the input amplifier and of the photodiode. Additionally, a sliding switch on the rear side of the PDA200 enables a bias voltage range of +0..+10 V (for polarity anode grounded) or -0..-10 V (for polarity cathode grounded) to be applied to the photodiode, which can be set using a 20-turn potentiometer. The displayed power values can be easily calibrated for a known power level. Additionally, a voltage proportional to the photodiode current is provided at an analog control output of the PDA200.
