The PDA25K by ThorLabs is a reliable and versatile Gallium Phosphide (GaP) switchable gain detector designed for the detection of light signals ranging from 150 to 550 nm. The PDA25K is an excellent choice for measuring both pulsed and CW light sources.

One of the most notable features of the PDA25K is its eight-position rotary switch that allows the user to vary the gain in 10 dB steps. This feature offers exceptional control and precision, making it a great fit for applications where accurate signal detection is critical. Moreover, a buffered output is designed to deliver a stable and clean signal at its 50Ω load impedance range of up to 5V.

The PDA25K is an efficient device which consists of a reverse-biased PIN photo diode, linked to a switchable gain transimpedance amplifier and enclosed in housing that is rugged. It is increasingly gaining popularity as it offers greater reliability and durability. This gain detector also includes a SM1RR retaining ring and a SM1T1 threaded coupler that is removable, both of which can be used with any compatible 1" threaded accessories. This convenient feature allows the user to mount external optics, light filters, apertures, and other accessories easily. Compatible cage assembly accessories make mounting quick and straightforward, too.

One of the most impressive features of the PDA25K is its low-noise, low-offset, high-gain transimpedance amplifier. This feature allows gain adjustment over a 70 dB range, making it a versatile and adaptable device. The gain can be modified by turning the gain control knob which is situated on the top of the device. There are eight gain positions incremented in 10 dB steps, providing a wide range of gain options. It's important to note that the bandwidth will decrease as the gain increases, but the PDA25K still maintains low noise and increases the bandwidth range from DC to 150 MHz.
