The ThorLabs PM100D is a Power and Energy Meter Console, a highly efficient and versatile optical measurement device designed for professionals in R&D, quality assurance, manufacturing, and quality control fields. With its exceptional features, this meter console allows for the precise measurement of optical power and energy from light sources, including laser light or other (near) monochromatic light.

The PM100D features a compact, battery-powered design that makes it highly portable and ideal for use in both stationary and field applications. It is compatible with "C-Type" photodiodes alongside thermal, pyroelectric sensors and detectors. Additionally, its fast USB device interface provides a wide range of measurement applications. Powered by a 1-cell LiPo+ battery, the PM100D is easy to recharge by plugging the AC adapter or USB cable into a computer. The built-in charging circuit automatically regulates and terminates the charging process, taking approximately 3-4 hours to fully charge. The 4" LCD screen displays six decades of power corresponding current and four decades of power corresponding voltage ranges, which can be viewed in the respectively applicable unit, depending on sensor and chosen unit.

The PM100D offers great precision and accuracy with its 4-digit numeric display and 16-bit linear A/D converter. It also has a huge dynamic range of over 100 dB when paired with one photodiode power sensor. In the world of laser energy measurement, there are four decades of voltage ranges associated with corresponding energy levels. The soft buttons on the bottom of the graphics display make the interface user-friendly and easy to navigate. The PM100D also comes equipped with a data logging function, allowing the user to store measurement data on an SD memory card located in the instrument's bottom. With the push-pull mechanism, the user can easily remove or insert the memory card. The data logging function is available in the statistics and graphical screen, and up to 99 files can be selected to store data. Old data in the selected file will be overwritten.

For ease of use, the PM100D also has a USB 2.0 interface that allows commands to be sent from a host computer to the instrument. With a USB cable, a male type ‘A’ connector at the PC side, and a type ‘Mini B’ connector on the instrument side the PM100D can be connected to a PC. The provided software integrated into the PM100D system, including applications and drivers necessary for LabVIEW and C software, makes it easy to integrate the device into measurement and testing systems.
