The PM100USB is compatible with over 30 different photodiode power sensors, thermal power sensors, and pyroelectric energy sensors that can help measure the power or wavelength of a light source. However, choosing the optimal sensor depends on several factors, including the type of light source to measure, its wavelength, and the application. One of the key features of the PM100USB is its USB operation capabilities, making it simple to integrate into test and measurement systems. Additionally, with the Optical Power Monitor (OPM) software, the PM100USB can be operated remotely from a PC, laptop, or tablet, enabling even more flexibility in its use. The OPM software enables fast and easy control of the device using the USB interface, allowing for active signal monitoring at a readout rate of 300 samples per second.
The PM100USB also offers selectable bandwidths of either 20 Hz or 100 kHz, giving users photodiode sensors with greater adaptability and flexibility with specific measurement tasks. The PM100USB sensor is easily identified with a red connector-housing of a DE-9 connector. Sensor type and calibration data are saved in the non-volatile memory of the DE-9 connect, which is automatically sent to the device and the steering device and software upon connection. The PM100USB takes this into account with its individually calibrated sensors, which are calibrated over their entire spectral operating range.
