The ThorLabs PM300 is an outstanding dual-channel, benchtop optical power meter that glean measurements that are accurate of laser light optical power or other monochromatic light sources. Its dual-channel design, compatibility with photodiode and thermal power meter sensors, and common photodiode detectors make it ideal for a wide range of applications in quality assurance, R&D, quality control, and manufacturing.

The PM300 is user-friendly, thanks to its three display/menu dependent soft buttons located below the graphics display, along with a control knob that includes a push button with Edit/Enter functionality. The power meter also provides sensor-dependent up to seven power corresponding current and up to four power corresponding voltage measurement ranges that can be manually or automatically selected in the range and power range menu screens.

The PM300's USB 2.0 interface allows users to send commands from a host computer directly to the instrument. The power meter can also be connected to a PC via a USB cable with a male type ‘A’ connector at the PC side and a type ‘B’ connector on the instrument side. The computer interface includes two categories of command types: set commands that allow the PM300 to be configured to desired specifications, and query commands that retrieve data from the device.

In addition to its outstanding performance, the PM300 also comes with a utility software that makes it easy to operate the power meter, visualize measurement data, and log data. The software is written in LabVIEW 7.1 and can be installed as an executable from the CD, even if LabVIEW isn't installed on the PC. Alternatively, it can be run with LabVIEW 7.1 or higher. The software, including drivers and applications for LabVIEW and C, simplifies the integration of the PM300 into test and measurement systems. The PM300 has a compact design, measuring 220 x 110 x 290 mm³ without operating elements and weighs ≤ 4 kg.
