The S302C by ThorLabs is a thermal power sensor head, a high-precision device that measures low optical power sources with exceptional accuracy. This sensor head is an ideal choice for measuring a broad range of spectra, including amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) sources, light emitting diodes (LEDs), filament lamps, swept-wavelength lasers, and other sources. The S302C preferred for applications that cannot tolerate the strong wavelength dependencies and/or saturation thresholds of photodiode sensors.
The S302C is equipped with extra insulation, which minimizes measurement drift, ensuring better accuracy. However, the insulation also results in the sensor cooling down more slowly than our other sensors after becoming hot. Other notable features of the S302C include a broad spectral range with relatively flat spectral responses, calibration with NIST- and PTB-Traceable certification, and compatibility with c-series connectors which enables quick sensor connection.
One of the standout features of the S302C is its broadband coating that provides a flat spectral response over a wide wavelength range of 190 nm - 25 µm. It has an aperture size of Ø10 mm which allows for easy alignment and measurement of large-spot-size laser sources. For seamless integration with compatible lens tube systems and SM1-threaded (1.035"-40) fiber adapters, the S302C has an externally SM1-threaded adapter.
