The CLD1015 by ThorLabs is an all-in-one laser diode and temperature controller that provides exceptional output stability and prolonged diode life. This compact device is ideal for tightly packed setups with its dimensions of 4.37" x 2.9" x 6.69". The built-in mount ensures portability and mechanical stability, making it compatible with various pigtailed butterfly diode lasers, including type 1 and type 2 butterfly packages of laser amplifiers, fiber-coupled lasers, and superluminescent diodes.

The CLD1015 can supply 1.5A of drive current to laser diodes, which is suitable for various butterfly laser diodes and offer high output stability while keeping the diode temperature stable within 0.005°C in 24 hours. This device also has a switchable noise reduction filter and a modulation input, making it versatile for different laser applications. To guarantee the maximum efficiency and safety of the device, advanced features like current and temperature limits, soft start mode, and external interlock compatibility are incorporated. These features help to maintain proper operation within the specified range of the unit.

The CLD1015 operates in both constant current mode or constant power mode and provides up to 3.0 A of TEC current. It is easy-to-use with a built-in 4.3" diagonal, color touch screen that provides an intuitive menu system for setting operating parameters. In addition to having the ability to be controlled locally with the touch screen GUI, the CLD1015 can also be used remotely over USB. To the rear of the unit, a mini-USB interface enables complete control of all settings using several programming languages.

The CLD1015 can accommodate fiber cables through the ports on the back of the unit, which are compatible with mating sleeves for mounting convenience. Two mounting clips, compatible with 1/4"-20 and M6 bolts, can also be used to secure the CLD1015 to a breadboard. Additionally, the structure of the butterfly laser diode includes the “heart,” which is also considered the laser diode chip that emits in two directions with the same power towards the collimator and into the reverse direction. The photodiode or monitor diode, placed opposite to the output collimator, is used to observe and control the optical power.
