The ThorLabs HLS635 is the go-to handheld laser source that's perfect for portable alignment and fiber-coupled laser tasks. Measuring only 5.33" x 2.74" x 0.94", the compact size of the HLS635 ensures easy handling and maneuverability for any task that requires precision alignment.

The HLS635 features three modes of operation: low power (~1 mW), high power (≥2.5 mW), and a pulse mode that switches the laser from high power to off at 2 Hz. Indicated by indicator lights on the front panel, the user can easily switch between modes to fit a specific task. The output is FC/PC coupled using the standard SM600 single mode fiber pigtail, which provides true single mode output at 635 nm. Furthermore, the HLS635 is compatible with a removable red rubber cover boot and a kickstand, ensuring stable placement while in use.

The HLS635 comes equipped with an internal 3.6 V NiMH rechargeable battery and charger, making it the perfect tool for on-the-go applications. With a universal DC power supply, it will work with line voltages between 100 and 240 VAC from 50 to 60 Hz. Charging is simple - just make sure the HLS635 is not lasing and within the battery charge temperature range. When starting from a completely drained battery, the unit takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to charge, and the green Charging LED will light up to indicate the process. Once the unit is fully charged, the LED will turn off, and the user can leave the unit on the charger indefinitely to maintain the full charge. To preserve battery life, it's safe to leave the unit plugged into the power adapter and allow the unit to self-charge periodically.

To turn the HLS635 laser off, simply press the Power/Enable button momentarily to disable the laser while keeping the unit powered on. The Laser On indicator will go out, and the laser will be disabled. Note that in this mode, the laser will not charge. The laser source can also be put into standby by holding the Power/Enable button for approximately 3 seconds. The HLS635 is in standby when the Power indicator is not lit, and this mode should be used whenever possible to maximize battery life if running on battery power.
