The ITC8102 from Thorlabs is a PRO8 Laser Diode Current & Temperature Control Module that is specifically designed to provide reliable and accurate control of laser diode current and temperature for use with the PRO8 series chassis. The ITC8102 offers a laser drive current range of 0 to ±1 A, along with a TEC controller that provides up to 16 W of TEC cooling power. This module comes equipped with a 9-pin connector for laser current output and a 15-pin connector for TEC current output, providing you with the flexibility to easily connect to your PRO8 series chassis. The ITC8102 has a laser current range of ±1 A and supports all laser and monitor diode polarities (anode grounded / cathode grounded), making it ideal for a wide range of applications. Featuring highly stable operation with low noise, the ITC8102 has multiple built-in laser diode protection features as well as support for Thermistor & IC Sensors.

In addition, the ITC8102 has excellent temperature stability (up to <0.001 °C), which makes it an excellent choice for those applications requiring precise temperature control. The adjustable P, I, and D-Settings of the PID Servo Loop for Optimal Temperature Settling Time ensure optimal temperature control, while the transimpedance amplifier input for the monitor diode supports both polarities of the monitor diode, which can be operated either photovoltaic (without bias voltage) or photoconductive, i.e. with bias voltage. Furthermore, the ITC8102 features a closed loop amplifier with adjustable settings for P (proportional), I (integral), and D (differential) share, which enables you to customize the temperature control for your specific requirements. The ITC8102 also includes a temperature window that can be set to shut down the laser in the event of exceeding high or low thresholds, ensuring the protection of the laser.

The ITC8102 module includes a key-operated power switch and interlock, ensuring safe and secure operation. Depending on the item chosen, different cables are required to connect the modules to a Laser Diode Mount. The ITC8102, with 2 separate connectors, requires the CAB400 for the laser controller and the CAB420-15 cable for the temperature controller. Finally, it is recommended that the ITC8102 be recalibrated at least every 24 months to ensure optimum performance.
