The front panel of the device displays all operating elements on a 5-digit LED display, which allows users to easily view and adjust laser current, optical power in mW, photodiode monitor current, and laser current limit. The LDC200CV offers two different operating modes: constant power mode and constant current mode, depending on the specific needs of the user. In constant power mode, the photodiode current is kept constant by controlling the laser injection current, while constant current mode holds the current to the laser at a precise level.

The LDC200CV also offers a range of connectivity options. On the back of this device, a 9-pin D-SUB jack for connecting the laser output and photodiode input can be found. It allows for the connection between all polarities of laser diodes that are commercially available . Additionally, the LDC200CV allows the injection current or the optical output power of the laser diode to be modulated by applying a modulation signal, while the laser current can be switched by applying a TTL signal to the LD remote input.

To ensure a safe and reliable operation, the LDC200CV comes with a number of protective features. The device is equipped with an internal fan that helps prevent overheating, while a mains filter and careful transformer screening minimize ripple and noise of the output current. An LED light and short beep signal alert users to any errors or when the limit of the laser current has been reached. Additionally, an automatic switch-off feature prevents the laser diode from short circuiting, and a soft start function helps the laser diode avoid voltage peaks.
