The LDC210C by ThorLabs is a highly efficient and reliable benchtop laser diode controller designed to provide optimal performance when used with laser diodes and LEDs. Its advanced features make it an ideal choice for various laser applications.

With the use of a compatible temperature controller, the LDC210C ensures stable operation of a connected laser diode. This feature helps prevent damage to the diode and ensures that it operates at its optimal level. In addition, the LDC210C has an enhanced compliance voltage of >10V, making it perfect for use with blue laser diodes. The LDC210C features a user-friendly interface with controls that are easy to operate. The front panel has operating elements, and a 5-digit LED display that allows for easy selection of parameters. The up and down keys enable users to choose the parameter they want to display, including the laser current, photodiode monitor current, or laser current limit.

The LDC210C is equipped with several inputs and outputs at the back, one of them being a laser current modulation input or power that cis able to effectively pulse the laser diode output. It also has a control output that is proportional to the laser current and the ability for remote laser on and off with a TTL input. The laser and photodiode are connected via a 9-pin D-SUB jack, and the output for the laser diode and the input for the photodiode are bipolar, allowing for connection to all polarities of commercially available laser diodes.

For added safety, the LDC210C has several features that protect the laser diode from damage. These features include a soft start function that gradually increases the injection current for about 200 msec after switching the laser on, adjustable limit of the laser that can be set using the 12 turn potentiometer at the front panel, contact protection of the laser diode which shuts the output switch off immediately if the connection to the laser is interrupted during operation even for a very short time, electronic short-circuit for the laser diode in LASER OFF mode, line failure protection that occurs when the laser current is switched off immediately if a power failure or line interruption occurs, and an Interlock feature that provides several protection functions simultaneously.
