It features a nominal wavelength of 455 nm and outputs more than 900 mW of power, making it an ideal option for high-intensity lighting needs. The M455L3 is mounted to the end of a Ø30.5 mm heat sink and requires a constant current that must not exceed 1000 mA. The current source must be capable of delivering the current at a forward voltage of 3.2 V. This configuration ensures stable and reliable operation, while the ability to fit inside a 30 mm cage system provides versatility in integration.

The M455L3 is a single LED mounted to the end of SM1 internal threads and possesses an EEPROM chip that stores information about the LED. This chip provides data on the forward voltage, wavelength, and current limit, enabling the implementation of smart safety features. The thermal stability of the M455L3 is impressive, ensuring that there is no degradation of optical output power due to increased LED temperature. Moreover, the mounted LED can be used to construct a multi-LED source, which can be configured for integration with 30 mm cage systems and SM1 lens tube systems that are compatible with the LED. During operation, air ventilation should be provided to prevent reduced lifetime, drops in optical power, and overheating.

The M455L3's switch-on behavior varies from unit to unit due to individual LED properties and environmental conditions. Heat dissipation is an essential criterion, and the M455L3's unique thermal design reduces power decay to a minimum. The mounted LED has a standard M8x1 male sensor circular connector that connects to the unit with pins 1 and 2. Pins 3 and 4 are reserved for the internal EEPROM and should only be connected when using an LED driver. After switch-on, the M455L3 will warm up, which can cause a decay in optical power. However, this is counteracted by the mounted LED's superior thermal management, which ensures consistent and reliable performance.
