The Thorlabs MCLS1 presents superior technology by combining four laser channels with a fiber coupled diode that can be easily integrated and managed. This state-of-the-art laser source is incredibly effective, delivering seamless results. With its four fiber output light sources and a wavelength range of 406 nm to 1550 nm, this laser source is compatible with a wide variety of fiber pigtailed laser diodes and can be customized with any combination of 4 laser wavelengths using either single mode fiber or PM fiber.
Each laser diode of the MCLS1 is powered by its own high-precision, low-noise constant-current source and temperature control unit, ensuring consistent performance and stability. The user-friendly LCD interface of the MCLS1 allows for effortless viewing and setting of laser parameters, including laser current and temperature control. The real-time display provides information on the selected channel, output wavelength, operating power, and actual temperature.
The microcontroller of the MCLS1 grants full control over the laser's optical power, temperature, and allows for monitoring of the system for any potential fault conditions. The laser source is equipped with a USB connection for remote adjustments to power, temperature, and enabling, as well as analog inputs for external signal modulation.
Safety is a top priority, as the microcontroller will automatically disable the output if the analog input plus the internal set point exceeds the laser limits. The MCLS1 meets 3B laser class requirements, with most output sources falling within the class 3R laser rating. The interlock located on the rear panel must be shorted to enable laser output, and can be configured to trigger in unsafe conditions. The keylock power switch and each source's own enable button ensure safe and secure operation, with a master enable switch for easy activation of the desired light source.
The MCLS1 features a front panel with a laser emission indicator, FC/PC fiber optic connector, and a laser output cover for protection during fiber removal. The control knob or switch on the front panel allows for easy channel selection and adjustment of both current and temperature. The backlit display provides real-time information on channel, output power, wavelength, and temperature, with green LED indicators on each channel for easy determination of their status. The MCLS1 is designed with a universal power supply, allowing for seamless operation between 100-240 VAC without the need for voltage selection.
