The OSL1 by ThorLabs is a powerful and reliable high-intensity fiber light source that is specifically designed to provide exceptional lighting for microscopy and laboratory applications. With its rugged design and safety cutoff and thermal switch features, the OSL1 delivers a strong and cool light that is perfect for a variety of scientific applications.

Featuring a 150 W halogen lamp with a variable control of 1000:1, the OSL1 comes complete with a bulb, fiber adapter chuck, and a 36" (91 cm) long Ø1/4" fiber bundle. To ensure easy integration into any mounting hardware that is SM1-compatible, it is recommended to use a mounting adapter to mount the fiber. The OSL1's front panel boasts an array of features that include a variable intensity controller, an on/off rocker switch, front panel fasteners, a lamp module, and a V-port with a T-handle retainer. Meanwhile, the rear panel houses a T-slot for mounting #1/4 - 20 or M6 hex head fasteners, an IEC inlet with line filtering, and an operating voltage label.

Operating the OSL1 is incredibly simple. Before making any connections, the unit must be powered off. Additionally, the AC power cord should not be connected until the connection to the OSL1 is completed. All connections should be made firmly, and the operating voltage must match the "local" power supply. With its ability to connect and control a variety of fiber optic components, the OSL1 provides a versatile solution for any laboratory. To keep the unit in top condition, it is recommended to use a slightly moistened soft cloth with a mild detergent solution to clean the cabinet, panel, and controls. Please note that scouring powder, abrasive pads, or solvents such as alcohol or benzine should never be used to clean the unit.
