The TCLDM9 by ThorLabs is a cutting-edge temperature-controlled mount that provides superior functionality for 3 and 4-pin laser diodes in both Ø9 mm (TO-9) and Ø5.6 mm (TO-56) packages. With the ability to control the laser diode and monitor the photodiode independently, this mount is compatible with a wide variety of laser diodes, including all three-pin style A, B, and C configuration laser diodes, as well as all four-pin style D laser diodes. The TCLDM9 is also compatible with all style E and F two-pin laser diodes, making it incredibly versatile.
The TCLDM9 has a host of features that make it easy to use with sophisticated laser systems. The front cover has four 4-40 tapped holes on 30mm centers to interface with Cage Assembly products for building 3-dimensional optical systems onto the mount. Additionally, a 1.035- 40 tapped hole centered on the laser accepts compatible 1” stackable optics mounts, allowing users to easily add additional parts such as collimating optics and fiber adapters. The laser diode socket is conveniently centered within the housing and is 1.75" (44.5 mm) above the tapped post mounting holes. This makes it easy to work with and install laser diodes of various sizes.
To provide precise temperature control, the TCLDM9 is compatible with two 13W thermo-electric coolers (TEC) that provide up to 20 watts of heating or cooling power. This allows for easy stabilization of the laser output power and wavelength. A 10K NTC thermistor and an AD592 temperature transducer are provided for temperature feedback, providing flexibility with a variety of TEC controllers. The laser diode is mounted into a 4-pin socket and clamped to a copper plate that is temperature stabilized by the two TECs. External switches allow the mount to be easily configured for any laser diode pin configuration. The TCLDM9 comes with two mounting flanges for mounting both 5.6mm and 9mm laser diodes.
The TCLDM9 has extensive laser protection features, including optional grounding configurations and the 'TEC Lockout' circuit (also included in our 14-Pin Butterfly Laser Diode Mounts). This circuit prevents enabling the laser unless the TEC controller is active, providing an additional layer of safety. The built-in TE cooler enables temperature-controlled operation of the laser diode, while the clamp ring protects the laser diode against air drafts, allowing for temperature stabilities of about 10 mK to be achieved.
