The TED200C by ThorLabs is a benchtop temperature controller that serves as an essential tool for stabilizing laser diodes and reducing noise in detectors. The TED200C is designed to regulate temperature and optimize laser diode wavelength tuning and wavelength modulation through temperature tuning.

With user-friendly features, the TED200C is easy to operate via the front panel. The 5-digit display and up and down keys allow the user to select the desired display parameters while the TEC current output can be switched on or off with a simple front panel key. The user can also change the temperature set value through a knob on the front panel or an analog input on the rear panel. Monitoring the temperature is equally straightforward with a DC voltage that is proportional to the actual temperature available at the rear panel (CTL OUT). 

The TED200C's temperature control loop consists of independent P, I, and D shares that can be easily set, making it a versatile temperature control solution. The TED200C supports different temperature sensors such as NTC thermistors and IC temperature sensors, with temperature displayed in kW or °C, depending on the sensor used. The unit is equipped with an internal fan that cools the system, protecting it from overheating in high ambient temperatures. In case of overheating, the controller's output is automatically disabled, and the LED "OTP" (F5) lights up while a short beep is heard.

The TED200C's temperature sensor and TEC element are connected to a 15-pin D-SUB jack at the rear of the unit. The user can drive all thermoelectric coolers up to a current of 2 A with the TED200C, and the TE OUTPUT jack provides a control signal to drive an external LED to indicate TECON mode when the TEC current is activated. The TED200C ensures safe and independent temperature control when managing the temperature of thermoelectrically heated or cooled components in an experimental setup. To optimize the controller's response characteristics and adapt it to different thermal loads, the user can fine-tune the controlling parameters of the feedback loop.
