The ThorLabs APY002 is a versatile pitch and yaw platform that is optimized to be utilized with NanMax, RollerBlock, and MicroBlock stages that have three axes. This cost-efficient platform provides an easy upgrade to 5-axis positioning, making it an essential tool for precision engineering applications.

The APY002 is composed of a pitch and yaw platform and a mounting post. The post for mounting is installed directly onto an compatible optical table to ensure the top surface is at the proper deck height when placed in front of the stage. Mating components can then be attached to the platform and adjusted in yaw and pitch, enabling greater control and flexibility in positioning.

The mounting post included in the APY002 produces an optical height of 75 mm. However, the platform can also be removed from the post and fixed directly onto the stage, replacing the standard top plate. This feature makes it possible to adjust the pitch and yaw of components fitted on their respective stages and also increases the optical axis height from 75 mm to 90 mm. Furthermore, the user can use an angle bracket and spacer block kit to bring components in contact with each other and provide them equal heights.

With its micrometer drive, the APY002 offers precise control, with 1° of pitch rotation relating to 0.86 mm micrometer movement (1 mm = 1.16°) and 1° of yaw rotation relating to 0.91 mm of micrometer movement (1 mm = 1.1°). The APY002 is an ideal tool for angled pigtails and moderate resolution components because of its high accuracy level. Additionally, the user can easily make manual adjustments on the angular axes with this device. Furthermore, the APY002 can accommodate all standard nanopositioning accessories through its keyway interface, making it compatible with a wide range of applications.
