The ThorLabs KCH301 is an innovative USB controller hub and power supply designed with multiple K-Cube operations in mind. It is a powerful tool that simplifies cable management, power supply routing, multiple USB device communications, and different optical table mounting scenarios. The KCH301 is compatible with both three K-Cubes and T-Cubes, making it a versatile and reliable tool for any laboratory or workspace.
The KCH301 comes equipped with a fully compliant USB 2.0 hub circuit that enables communication for all the K-Cubes. With just a single USB connection to the Controller Hub, you can easily control all the K-Cubes from your PC. The Controller Hub features a single power connection that distributes power to all the K-Cubes, making it incredibly convenient and efficient. This USB and power routing capability significantly reduces the number of USB and power cables required when operating multiple K-Cubes, making your workspace more organized and efficient. The KCH301 features a USB output connector that can be connected to the USB input on another Hub, allowing multiple Controller Hubs to be connected together with only a single USB cable from the host control PC. Alternatively, AP90 Right Angle Brackets can be used to mount the KCH301 vertically, saving space on the optical table. Two M6 cap screws are required to attach the right angle bracket to the hub.
The KCH301's Controller Hub circuitry provides several internal flexible digital and analog interconnect lines for deterministic multiple-cube synchronized operation. It provides a rigid mechanical mounting platform for carrying the K-Cubes, with mounting holes incorporated in the Hub to allow for various mounting orientations. You can mount the Controller Hub flat to the table surface or vertically stack the K-Cube controllers, reducing optical table footprint to an absolute minimum. The underside of the bottom face includes two magnets for secure but temporary fixing.
The KCH301 comes equipped with three bays. This base plate-type carrier consists of electrical connections situated on the top surface which accommodate the K-Cubes. A custom multi-channel driver arrangement in an extremely compact footprint can be built when a combination of K-Cube controllers are mixed and matched. Additionally, the KCH301 has an array of mounting holes on the bottom, enabling it to be mounted in multiple configurations to both imperial and metric tables. Mounting brackets can be used to allow horizontal mounting, compatible with both imperial and metric screws, allowing the hub to be mounted flat on the optical table, much like the mounting plates of the individual cubes.
