The KPZ101 by ThorLabs is a K-Cube Piezo Controller, a high-performance and versatile device designed to provide both manual and automatic control of a single axis. The KPZ101 is perfect for researchers, engineers, and scientists who require precise and efficient piezo control for their experiments and applications.

The KPZ101 is capable of delivering up to 150V of drive voltage at 7.5mA, allowing for operating bandwidths up to 1kHz. This means that the device is compatible with a wide range of piezo stacks and actuators and offers exceptional control accuracy. The KPZ101 is outfitted with a top-mounted control panel that offers the versatility of four bidirectional speeds, along with forward and reverse jogging and position presets via its velocity wheel. Through the top panel menu, the user can dim or turn off the backlight on the digital display situated at the top. Additionally, the front of the KPZ101 contains two bidirectional trigger ports that can be used to read a 5V external logic signal or output a 5V logic signal to control external equipment.

Measuring at dimensions of 60mm x 60mm x 47mm (2.36” x 2.36” x 1.85”), the KPZ101 has a compact and space-saving design that can be directly mounted close to the controlled device on an optical table. This also allows for minimal drive cable lengths, making cable management easier and more convenient. The KPZ101 offers a fully featured piezo control capability, with a user-selectable output range of 75V, 100V, or 150V. The resolution of the digitally encoded adjustment pot is easily altered to provide very accurate positioning control, and direct hardware control of the high voltage output can be facilitated using the low voltage input connector. The device also allows for easy monitoring of the HV output using a scope, thanks to the low voltage output connector.

The KPZ101 can be operated in tandem with the K-Cube Strain Gauge Reader unit (KSG101) to provide high precision closed loop operation. With USB connectivity, the KPZ101 provides easy 'Plug and Play' PC controlled operation, making it perfect for multi-axis motion control applications. With apt™ software, the user can quickly get started and be comfortable with the user interface in no time. This device does not require complicated power connections and multiple units can simultaneously be linked to one PC seamlessly with a USB hub or K-Cube Controller Hub.
