The MBT602 by ThorLabs is a versatile 3-axis compact MicroBlock flexure stage that has been expertly designed to optimize the coupling efficiency in a fiber alignment or waveguide positioning system. With an ideal resolution and travel range, this stage is perfect for use in fiber launch systems or micron resolution applications. One of the key features of the MBT602 is its innovative flexure design, which eliminates the need for grease and ensures long-term stability. The crossed pattern of the design also allows for changing the orientation of the stage for right or left-handed use, making it highly adaptable to the needs of the user.

The MBT602 boasts a thumbscrew drive that issues 4 mm (0.16") of coarse travel with 500 μm adjustment per revolution. This fine-threaded drive is simpler than its differential micrometer counterpart and is perfect for use with less demanding multimode fiber-optic systems. It provides 4 mm of fine position adjustment with a 500 µm travel per revolution. The MBT602's parallel flexure structure eliminates the issues of friction and stiction associated with traditional bearings. It also has three linear translations that are orthogonal for flexibility in motion control. By employing a nested flexure plate setup, this stage can continue to function without any need for lubrication - something that's often the root of positioning device drift.

The MBT602 comes equipped with a top-mounting platform that can be adjusted along three x, y, and z translational axes with respect to the base. This stage provides an adequate working platform height of 62.5 mm and a desirable optical-axis height of 75 mm, offering enough room to carry out experiments. Additionally, it has a maximum load capacity of 1 kg (2.2 lbs). The MBT602 is compatible with MMP1 top plates that feature imperial taps, making it easy to integrate with other accessories. The mounting plate contains a central keyway that allows for easy and repeatable alignment of additional accessories. The RB13P1 top plate is also compatible with the MBT602, allowing the stage to be mounted off-center or to a breadboard table.
