The MNA601/IR by ThorLabs is a highly advanced and adaptable modular APT Piezo/NanoTrak auto-alignment controller. The MNA601/IR is specifically designed to maximize the power throughput of a fiber-to-fiber or fiber-to-free-space system. When driving a piezo-actuated state to move the fiber tip in a circular scan pattern, the MNA601/IR performs a power gradient search to determine the direction of peak power and positions the fiber for maximum throughput. This feature makes it an essential tool for any researcher or engineer working on high-performance optical systems.

The MNA601/IR also features two high-voltage output channels that provide the drive signal for the associated piezo actuators, which eliminates the need for external piezo drivers. This feature makes it an easy-to-use solution that can be fully integrated into a rack system composed of piezoelectric controllers, stepper motor controllers, and the module itself. To ensure the device is adaptable to a wide range of optical device alignment scenarios, the MNA601/IR is highly tunable for specific alignment tasks. The device comes equipped with a series of easy-to-use software and graphical panels present on the device that make it easy to tune the device to specific tasks. Adjustment of many key parameters is also possible through direct interaction with a software-generated graphical panel that has a mixture of analog and digital controls.

Additional features of the MNA601/IR include an active alignment system with an advanced light search algorithm, a tracking feature that maintains optimum throughput indefinitely, a latch mode to maintain alignment stability over time, two piezo actuator output channels that provide closed-loop feedback, full software GUI control suite, and support for other custom applications. The MNA601/IR is supplied with an InGaAs detector for infrared wavelengths and a PIN diode SMB input for use with external detector heads. The device has dimensions of 190 mm x 270 mm x 50 mm and weighs 1.5 kg.
