The MTS50A-Z8 by ThorLabs is a base plate that has been designed to be connected to a MTS50-Z8 translation stage to provide a sturdy and secure platform. This base plate comes equipped with four 1/4" (M6) counterbored slots that allows the translation stage to be easily positioned on a breadboard or another type of optical table. The MTS50A-Z8 is connected to the bottom of the translation stage using four 4-40 or M3 cap screws and two alignment pins ensure that the translation axis is parallel to the length of the plate.

The MTS50A-Z8 makes it easy to mount the compatible MTS series translation stage in any orientation - horizontally or vertically. This versatility allows its use in a wide range of applications. It is very important to make sure that the stage isn't placed too close to any other equipment, otherwise it may stop the platform from being able to move freely, resulting in the potential damage to its internal components.
