The ThorLabs NRT150 is a motorized linear positioning stage, the ideal solution for applications that demand the capacity for high loads such as inspection and measurement applications. The NRT150 has a velocity maximum of 30 mm/s, a bidirectional repeatability of 1 µm, and is XY, XZ, and XYZ configurable, making it a versatile addition to any setup.

The NRT150 features a two-phase stepper motor design, which results in a fixed platform position when that stage is not powered, making it stand out from DC servo motor translation stages. Compared to DC servo motor translation stages, the NRT150 has lower vibrational noise in addition to smoother and smaller low-speed motion. The main fixed platform is supported by four ball carrier bearings that are recirculating, which are mounted to meticulously aligned linear guide rails, ensuring smooth and stable movement. When mounted horizontally, the NRT150 can handle loads of up to 44 lbs and up to 11 lbs when mounted vertically.

The high-quality stepper motor in the NRT150 is built to provide accurate features found in any true micro-positioning device, as well as good dynamic and static torque performance. With 150 mm of travel possible with the integrated stepper motor, the NRT150 offers unmatched precision and control. The NRT150's lead screw is led directly by the two-phase stepper with 409,600 microsteps per revolution, providing a smooth translation with a theoretical positional resolution of less than 100 nm. The lead screw has a trapezoidal shape, which has several advantages over an Acme-style thread. These advantages include increased durability, decreased friction as a result of improved surface quality, and very little backdrive, which does away with the need for a braking mechanism system that is necessary for ball screws.

With optomechanics mountable directly to the moving platform through the use of eight 1/4”-20 (M6) tapped holes spaced 1.0” apart, the NRT150 is a versatile and adaptable solution for all your precision needs. On-axis accuracy is measured at 2.0 µm (5.0 µm Max) when calibration files are used with compatible software. Finally, protection from overdriving in forward and reverse directions is provided by a Hall effect (magnetic) home detection limit switch located on the NRT150, ensuring your setup is always safe and secure.
