The ZST206 by ThorLabs is a stepper motorized actuator that serves as a high-precision drive mechanism, perfect for a wide variety of components requiring exceptional accuracy, such as drop-in replacements or custom mounts. The ZST206 is a great choice for use in mirror mounts, translation stages, microscopes, and OEM applications where standard drive mechanisms fall short.

Boasting a travel length of 6.0 mm, the ZST206 is lightweight, compact, and exceptionally durable. Measuring at 111.0 mm (4.37") in length, it provides smooth and precise linear motion control powered by a small-diameter, two-phase, bi-polar stepper motor. This actuator is capable of operating at speeds of up to 2.0 mm/s, making it an excellent choice for demanding applications that require drop-in replacements or custom mounts. 

The ZST206 features a non-rotating drive tip that helps reduce wear and friction while improving motion smoothness by eliminating rotational contact at the tip. With a 1/4"-80 threaded barrel, this actuator can be easily mounted to any manual mirror mount or positioning stage equipped with 1/4"-80 threads. The ZST206 stepper motor provides sufficient torque for loads up to 40 N (8.99 lbs), and its design allows for very small step sizes over the entire travel range, providing greater flexibility with low (<15 µm) backlash and fine resolution. With a 41:1 gear reduction head and 49,152 microsteps per revolution offered by the KST101 stepper motor driver, the ZST206 provides a theoretical travel per microstep of 0.5 nm.

The ZST206 is equipped with Hall effect limit switches that prevent the unit from being overdriven and provide homing capability with an accuracy of <5.0 μm. This actuator is also compatible with 0.6 m (2 ft) of cable terminated in a 15-pin D-Type connector that can be used with the KST101 stepper motor controller. Designed to replace manual adjusters in stages and mirror mounts that have 1/4"-80 threaded fittings, the ZST206 is easy to install. Simply remove the existing manual adjuster from the mount and screw in the ZST206 actuator.
