The ZST225B by ThorLabs is a high-precision stepper motorized actuator, designed for precise linear motion control in a compact package measuring just 150.5 mm (5.93") in length. With its exceptional accuracy, the ZST225B is an ideal solution for demanding applications in mirror mounts, translation stages, microscopes, OEM components, and other high-precision equipment.

The ZST225B features a small-diameter, dual-phase stepper motor, enabling operation at speeds of up to 2.0 mm/s. The drive tip that is non-rotating terminated the tip’s rotational contact which significantly reduces friction and wear while providing smoother motion. The stepper motor provides adequate torque for maximum loads of 40 N (8.99 lbs) and allows for tiny step sizes throughout the travel range, providing superior flexibility with lower (<15 µm) accurate resolution and backlash.

The ZST225B also boasts a 41:1 gear reduction head, combined with the KST101 stepper motor driver's 49,152 microsteps per revolution, resulting in a theoretical travel per microstep of 0.5 nm. This exceptional resolution provides ultra-fine adjustments for even the most delicate of applications. Incorporating hall effect limit switches, the ZST225B prevents overdriving and provides homing capability with an accuracy of <5.0 μm. A 0.6 m (2 ft) cable terminated in a 15-pin D-Type connector, compatible with the KST101 stepper motor controller, is included for convenience. Furthermore, the ZST225B can be easily mounted through a standard Ø3/8" (Ø9.525 mm) barrel and provides a travel length of 25.0 mm.
