The BS012 by ThorLabs is a premium quality beamsplitter cube that is non-polarizing. Designed to provide exceptional performance with minimal beam offset, this cube is fabricated from high-quality N-BK7 glass. The BS012 is optimized to deliver a beamsplitting ratio of 50:50 that has a small dependence on incident light polarization. Moreover, this beamsplitter cube features a broadband AR coating, specifically designed for the 1100 - 1600 nm range, delivering superior performance across the spectrum.
To ensure precise and accurate results, the beamsplitter coating of the BS012 is dielectric and is adhered to the hypotenuse of one of the prisms that make up the cube, and then the two prism halves are bound together with cement. To help with proper alignment, the cube has arrows engraved on the surface that designated where the beam is incident on the layer of beamsplitter coating. It's worth noting that the specifications of the cube is only guaranteed when light is first incident on the side of the beamsplitter coating, though any other AR-coated surfaces of the BS012 can accept light entering through. This ensures that you get accurate and reliable results every time, without any unwanted distortions or deviations.
