The C036TME-F by ThorLabs is a mounted Geltech aspheric lens that is perfect for a wide range of optical applications. Enclosed in a sturdy stainless steel housing that is engraved with the part number, this lens is easy to identify and integrate into an optical setup or OEM application. With its metric external threading, the C036TME-F can be quickly adapted to compatible SM1 lens tubes with the use of aspheric lens adapters.
The C036TME-F is a sturdy, one component solution which has been enhanced to decrease spherical distortion when used in different applications. It is perfect for imaging light into a detector, spatial filtering, coupling light into a fiber, and collimating the output of a fiber or laser diode. This lens can efficiently collimate light from mid-wave and long-wave infrared sources, including Quantum Cascade Lasers, making it ideal for such applications. The C036TME-F is equipped with an antireflection coating that covers the 8 - 12 µm range, deposited on both sides. With its Ø5.00 mm unmounted clear aperture and black diamond substrate, this lens boasts several advantages over traditional germanium optics.
The C036TME-F is made of Black Diamond-2 (BD-2), which is a chalcogenide that is made up of an germanium, antimony, and selenium amorphous mixture. The BD-2 material has an advantageous balance between its thermal stability and low coefficient of thermal expansion. This leads to a lower variation in the focal length when temperatures change, compared to that for germanium. Moreover, the C036TME-F has excellent transmission and can be used in environments up to 130 °C. The lens provides incredible performance over 1.7 - 2.2 µm range with transmission greater than 99% and levels out the dispersion curve. With its exceptional properties, the C036TME-F is an excellent drop-in replacement for multi-element microscope objectives, which can be used in conjunction with compatible RMS-threaded objective replacement adapters.
