The LA1509-B by ThorLabs is a plano-convex lens that is specially designed for a range of optical applications. Fabricated from RoHS-compliant N-BK7 glass, this lens boasts an antireflection coating for the 650 nm to 1050 nm range, ensuring high-quality results in a variety of settings. With a positive focal length of 100 mm and near best form shape, the LA1509-B is ideal for finite and infinite conjugate applications. The N-BK7 substrate of this lens is selected for applications where the additional benefits of UV fused silica are not required, such as a thermal expansion coefficient that is lower and good transmission deeper in the UV.
The LA1509-B lens can both engage light collimation form a point source and focus a collimated beam. It is essential to remember that while focusing a light source onto the curved surface of the lens, it should be collimated and when collimating, it should be incident on the planar surface. The LA1509-B is equipped with an antireflection (AR) coating, which reduces the amount of light reflected from each surface of the lens, enhancing transmission and preventing the undesirable effects of multiple reflections, such as ghost images. Furthermore, the AR coating on both surfaces of the lens makes it an attractive option for applications that utilize multiple optical elements.
