To ensure optimal performance, it is recommended to use a collimated light source when focusing on the curved surface of the lens and a point light source when collimating on the planar surface, minimizing the introduction of spherical aberration for precise and accurate results.

In addition, the LA4464 can also serve as a substitute for achromatic doublets in applications where image quality is not critical. Both plano-convex lenses and bi-convex lenses converge collimated incident light, but the LA4464 plano-convex lens is preferred when the desired magnification is either less than 0.2 or greater than 5, ensuring reliable performance across a wide range of magnification requirements.
