The LD1170-C lens by ThorLabs is a premium-quality bi-concave lens that is expertly crafted from an N-BK7 substrate, a material renowned for its superior optical properties. The lens features an advanced antireflection coating, specially designed to operate in the 1050 nm -1700 nm wavelength range. This coating is applied to both sides of the lens to minimize the amount of light that is reflected from the surfaces, thereby ensuring maximum light transmission and minimal distortion.

With a negative focal length of -75.0 mm, the LD1170-C lens is optimized for use in diverging a converging beam, making it an excellent choice for various optical applications. This bi-concave lens can be used in a similar fashion as plano-concave lenses in which it can separate a collimated beam into a virtual focus like a beam expander that is Galilean-type in design. Furthermore, the N-BK7 substrate of the LD1170-C lens offers lower dispersion, allowing for sharper and more precise imaging.
