The LD4271 by ThorLabs is a bi-concave lens designed to meet the needs of a wide range of applications. Made from premium UV grade fused silica, this lens is uncoated, and works optimally in the wavelength range of 185 nm to 2.1 μm. With a negative focal length of -9.0 mm, the LD4271 is often used to increase the divergence of a converging beam.

One of the standout features of the LD4271 lens is its high transmission in the deep UV, making it ideal for use in applications requiring high sensitivity to the UV wavelength. This lens is also virtually free of laser-induced fluorescence, which means it produces little to no light scattering when exposed to laser radiation at a wavelength of 193 nm. This feature makes the LD4271 an excellent choice for use in sensitive optical applications in the UV to the near IR range.

The UV grade fused silica substrate material used in the LD4271 lens offers better homogeneity and lower thermal expansion coefficient than N-BK7. These features make it a high-quality optical component that provides superior performance compared to other materials.
