The LMU-3X-248 by ThorLabs is a high-quality MicroSpot focusing objective designed to be used with UV excimer lasers and other ultraviolet sources in on-axis laser focusing and micromanaging applications. The LMU-3X-248 is a versatile tool suitable for a range of applications, including laser engraving, laser cutting, 3D photolithography, 3D printing, eye surgery, wafer dicing and inspection, and laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy.
The LMU-3X-248 is crafted from top-quality materials and features lens elements made from high-quality, low-absorption, excimer-grade fused silica and CaF2. These lenses are AR coated and optically designed for a narrowband or broadband wavelength range of 240 - 260 nm. The AR coating is centered around Excimer laser lines with <1% maximum reflectance per surface and high damage thresholds, making the LMU-3X-248 ideal for laser cutting and micromachining components at high powers.
Featuring a magnification of 3X, calculated assuming use with a 200 mm focal length tube lens, the LMU-3X-248 is optimized for precision and accuracy in demanding applications. Its external RMS (0.800"-36) threads allow the objective to be mounted to compatible fiber launch systems or flexure stages, providing a high level of versatility and flexibility. Moreover, the LMU-3X-248 boasts diffraction-limited performance for beam diameters ≤70% of clear aperture, a theoretical focus spot size of ≤5 µm, and an entrance aperture of ≥3.4 mm. Its infinite conjugate, air-spaced design makes the LMU-3X-248 ideal for a variety of applications where intense optical power is needed.
