The M405L2 by ThorLabs is a high-performance mounted UV LED that is ideal for various applications. With a dominant wavelength of 405 nm, it can output more than 410 mW of power, making it a reliable and efficient source of UV light. The M405L2 is securely mounted to a heat sink with SM1 (1.035"-40) threads, allowing it to remain temperature-controlled during operation. This feature ensures proper functionality and increases its lifespan.
It is important to note that the M405L2 requires a constant current, which should not exceed 1000 mA. The current source should be capable of delivering this current at a Forward Voltage of 3.8 V. The LED comes with an integrated EEPROM chip that stores critical information pertaining to the LED, such as its wavelength, current limit, and forward voltage. This information can be read by compatible LED controllers, making it easy to monitor and maintain the LED's performance. The M405L2 is designed with thermal stability that gives it the ability to counter the diminishing of output optical power caused by rising LED temperature. This feature ensures that the LED's performance remains consistent over time, making it a reliable choice for demanding applications.
The M405L2 is compatible with collimation adapters that incorporate an AR-coated aspheric lens for either 350 - 700 nm or 650 - 1050 nm. Two types of collimation adapters are offered. The first type, microscope collimation adapters, are designed to mate with the epi-illumination ports on select Olympus IX/BX, Nikon Eclipse, Zeiss Axioskop, or Leica DMI microscopes. The second type, adjustable collimation adapters have the ability to translate a Ø1" by up to 11 mm or Ø2" lens by up to 20 mm. A translating carriage is used to provide collimation adjustment, which can be locked using a 2 mm (5/64") hex key or ball driver. The adjustable collimation adapter is provided with an a SM2 (2.035"-40) thread adapter that is internal, making it easy to integrate the LED with SM2-threaded components.
