The MST601 by ThorLabs is a state-of-the-art APT modular 2-channel stepper motor controller that offers a scalable motion control solution for a variety of different applications. This cutting-edge controller is supported by a full suite of APT software tools, ensuring that it provides accurate and reliable control of stepper motors.

With the APTUser.exe utility software, control and visualization of the MST601 and additional plug-ins that may be installed into the system may be accessed immediately. This can be achieved after the associated USB drivers and software for the APT Rack is installed. This intuitive software allows for easy configuration of the motor step resolution, leadscrew pitch, phase currents, and limit switch settings, among other options. The MST601 is capable of controlling up to 12 stepper motors when used in conjunction with a 19" Rack Enclosure loaded with six dual channel stepper motor modules. The advanced application software and USB interface of multiple channel systems make it possible to integrate them into a singular solution that is large-scale. This creates ample flexibility and control while streamlining processes.

The MST601 is equipped with a user-friendly graphical instrument panel. This allows the user to quickly and easily modify the stepper unit's settings, as well as visualize the operation of it. The user can initiate both relative and absolute moves with move profiles set using velocity profile parameters. Home sequences have a full set of associated parameters that can be adjusted for a particular stage or actuator, making it easy to achieve precise positioning and motion control.

The MST601 also supports encoder feedback through dedicated quadrature encoded pulse (QEP) inputs, one for each of the two channels of operation. A built-in algorithm can be enabled to allow the stepper system to reach and maintain an encoded position through an iterative move sequence. With all of these features and capabilities, the MST601 provides unparalleled control and precision for the motion control needs of the user. In addition, the MST601 has all the same performance and ease of use features as other benchtop controllers. They combine the latest ActiveX software technology, high-speed digital signal processors (DSP), and low-noise analog electronics, ensuring that the controller is both powerful and user-friendly.
