Additionally, the N414-A is made of molded glass, a process that imbues the lens with unique properties, such as Abbe number, that vary from the standard properties of the glass itself. If the unmounted lens is being used to collimate the light from a point source or laser diode, it is essential to note that the flatter surface that has the greater radius of curvature should face the point source or laser diode.
