The UFBS2080 by ThorLabs is a low-GDD ultrafast broadband beamsplitter that offers exceptional performance and versatility for a range of applications. With a 20:80 (R:T) beam splitting ratio, the UFBS2080 is optimized for p-polarized light at 45° and is compatible with a wide wavelength range of 600 nm to 1500 nm.
The UFBS2080 is specifically designed to be used with femtosecond pulsed Ti:Sapphire, Yb, and Er fiber lasers, making it an ideal choice for research and industrial applications. It features a high-quality beamsplitting coating and an AR coating on the back surface that provides <0.5% absolute reflectance, ensuring excellent performance over a broad wavelength range. The UFBS2080 includes an Infrasil substrate which is a type of optical quartz that has nearly identical dispersion to fused silica but higher internal transmission around 1380 nm.
To ensure optimal performance, the UFBS2080 is marked with an arrow that points towards the beamsplitting coating, indicating the surface where light should be incident. Additionally, due to its ultra-thin design, the UFBS2080 is recommended to be mounted in retaining-ring-based mounts, as setscrew-based mounts may cause bending of the optical surfaces, which could compromise its performance. The UFBS2080 can be installed in a compatible glue-in kinematic mirror mount or a glue-in fixed mount that features two cut-outs, maximizing the transmissive clear aperture at 45° AOI. This makes it an ideal mount for a plate beamsplitter, providing a reliable and stable optical solution for a wide range of applications.
