The WG51050 by ThorLabs is an uncoated broadband precision window made of calcium fluoride (CaF2). The WG51050 is the perfect choice for those seeking high transmission in the ultraviolet (180 nm) to the infrared (8 μm) range. The low absorption coefficient and high damage threshold of uncoated calcium fluoride crystals make them a popular choice for use with excimer lasers. The WG51050 is also frequently used in cryogenically cooled thermal imaging systems.
The WG51050’s CaF2 substrate offers many advantages, including low dispersion with an Abbe Number of 95, low fluorescence, and excellent resistance to water, chemicals, and heat. Optical calcium fluoride is an ideal choice for use with free-space lasers. Dry environments pose no threat to the WG51050, as it can withstand temperatures of up to 1000 °C. However, it is important to note that in when moisture is present, degradation may occur for temperatures over 600 °C. In addition to these features, the WG51050 also boasts a crystal axis that is randomly oriented, further enhancing its performance.
