The WPH05M-1064 by ThorLabs is a cutting-edge zero-order and half-wave plate, engineered to deliver exceptional optical performance. This remarkable wave plate is made up of two Multi-Order Crystalline Quartz Wave Plates that work in tandem to produce an λ/2 optical path length difference, which translates into precise and accurate wave plate retardance. To make a compound retarder, one plate's fast axis has to be aligned with the other plate's slow axis. This results in a retardance which is calculated as the difference between the two individual plates' retardances. The WPH05M-1064 has a wavelength of 1064, a Ø10.0 mm (Ø0.39”) clear aperture, and has compatibility with Ø1/2" optics, making it an ideal solution for a wide range of optical applications.
One of the key advantages of the WPH05M-1064 is its low dependence on temperature and wavelength when compared to multi-order wave plates. A spacing ring that is etched and constructed from stainless steel is placed between two multi-order wave plates for constructing this zero-order wave plate. All of them are then epoxied together to ensure maximum quality and longevity. The final product is housed in anodized aluminum, with a line indicating the orientation of the wave plate's fast axis, text noting its zero-order half-wave plate status, alongside its design wavelength. On top of that, the WPH05M-1064 comes housed in a Ø1" size that is suitable for rotation mounts that are SM1-threaded when used alongside a compatible retaining ring. This ensures that the wave plate can be easily integrated into existing optical setups for seamless and efficient performance.
