The BA1 by ThorLabs is a highly optimized mounting base designed to maximize space utilization on optical breadboards. With its two-slotted design, the BA1 provides increased stability while maintaining a small footprint. Constructed from durable black anodized aluminum, the BA1 features bottom relief cuts that ensure stable mounting. Its universal design allows for compatibility with both imperial and metric components, including post holders, breadboards, and posts.

The BA1 can be positioned flush against other imperial bases without leaving unused rows of holes when it is used with imperial components, providing a clean and streamlined setup. This mounting base can also be used with metric components; however, the bases won’t be positioned flush against each other and there will be unused rows of holes. The BA1 features 1/4"-20 (M6) cap screws that are placed through the bottom-located counterbores in the base, allowing for easy attachment of post holders. Furthermore, the BA1 is machined with high precision, with parallel and perpendicular alignment within 0.002" (0.05 mm).
