The BA2 by ThorLabs is a highly functional mounting base that allows for optimized space on an optical breadboard, making it compatible with both imperial or metric components. Designed for precision and durability, the BA2 is fabricated from anodized aluminum and features two straight slots for stable post mounting.

Installation of the BA2 is quick and easy, with the ability to attach Ø1/2" post holders via bottom-located 3/8" long, 1/4"-20 (M6) cap screws. The base is machined perpendicular and parallel within 0.002" (0.05 mm) and has enhanced stability due to its bottom relief cuts. One of the key benefits of the BA2 is its ability to be compatible with both imperial and metric components, although it is recommended to match it with an imperial component for optimal performance. This allows the bases to be positioned flush against each other without leaving any unused rows of holes. Additionally, the BA2 boasts three 1/4"-20 (M6) counterbored mounting holes for mounting capabilities.
