The CL-200 by ThorLabs is a fiber microscope that is designed to produce high-quality, low-distortion images of both fiber and connector ends. With its 200X magnification and white LED high-intensity coaxial illumination system, the CL-200 can capture clear and detailed images of the fiber core and cladding, making it an ideal choice for a wide range of applications

A unique feature of the CL-200 is its wide FOV (field-of-view) of 1.20mm, which enables its capability to capture images of the core, cladding, and the nearby ferrule of the unit. This is essential for ensuring the quality of terminations and making sure that they meet the necessary standards. The CL-200 adopts a coaxial lighting technique, which emits light from the tip of the objective and makes it directly hit the sample through the fiber end face. This technique results in an excellent detailed image of scratches and contamination, allowing users to detect any issues that could impact the network's performance. The CL-200 boats other handy features, including a momentary on/off switch, an LED lifetime of 100,000 hours, and a fine focus control.

The CL-200 has a laser safety filter to protect the user from any potential harm by reducing the change of viewing live fiber emissions accidentally. The safety filter provides maximum attenuation of 35dBm for the 1550nm and 1310nm wavelength ranges, and a minimum attenuation of 20.5dBm at 850nm. It's essential to be mindful that no matter the protective measures in place, an actively emitting fiber should never be assessed with a CL-200 visual inspection scope. The CL-200 is also compatible with an adapter for FC-terminated, ST-terminated, and SC-terminated fibers. Additionally, it's strongly recommended to use a fiber inspection scope for critical examination of polish quality.
